Iman Ardekani
Associate Professor
Dr Iman Ardekani is a senior academic and multidisciplinary researcher with over two decades of experience in higher education across New Zealand and Australia. He holds two doctoral degrees: a PhD in Mathematics, specialising in Computational Mathematics, and a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, specialising in Computer Systems. This combination of disciplinary depth and technical breadth underpins his capacity to lead research and curriculum development at the intersection of mathematics, computing, and engineering. Iman has played a central role in the design, development, and review of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in data science, applied computing, applied mathematics, and data analytics. His academic leadership is complemented by an extensive supervisory record, having guided more than 20 PhD and Master’s students to completion. He has authored over 100 scholarly publications, including 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, and remains actively engaged in research. His current work focuses on deep learning algorithms, stochastic optimisation and bioacoustic intelligence — areas that reflect both theoretical rigour and real-world impact.
