Product Manager

Kate is the newly minted Product Manager - Applied AI for Phocas. Phocas is a Software Solutions enterprise in the Business Intelligence domain with offices in Australia, the UK, United States and New Zealand. Kate has over two decades experience in product management, agile project management and strategic consulting in STEM. Kate has worked with corporate giants like Pfizer, McKesson, Virgin and Vanglobe as well as kiwi export companies like Seequent and Scope and has been the industry advisor in the field of AI for the Canterbury University and the University of Auckland. Kate has conducted market and product research on-the-ground in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Europe (Benelux, Germany, UK), Japan, New Zealand, Peru and the USA and developed numerous strategies aimed at double-digit growth. Some of Kate's career highlights include being global marketing manager for the iconic Kiwi outdoors company Macpac, product manager for financial research firm Morningstar, and product roles for London-based travel company Jetset Travelworld and the head office of House Of Travel (another kiwi success story). Kate has a BSc. with majors in the Philosophy of Science, Mind and Logic (AI), and in Psychology and has completed professional studies in entrepreneurship with Stanford University and in AI with MIT Boston. Outside work, Kate has a penchant for ‘old-fashioned’ adventures like dog-sledding in the White Mountains, Alaska; hiking in the Khumbu, Cordillera de la Sal and Valley de la Luna; snowmobiling in Saint-David-de-Falardeau; and, powder skiing in Hokkaido. She also has a closet career as a shutterbug, including campaign work for Virgin Airlines and Macpac and being Sir Richard Branson’s photographer during his visit to the Christchurch Earthquake Zone.
